Another step forward in getting Steveston Lifeboat back onthe water...

The Vancouver Maritime Museum played host to the Steveston Lifeboat Fundraiser, organized by John and Mary Horton, on June 15, 2016. With over 100 people in attendance, the fundraiser featured a silent auction, including original paintings and limited edition prints from John's collection of artwork. Captain Stephen Brown, former President of the Chamber of Shipping of British Columbia welcomed guests and introduced Captain Mike Armstrong, Chairman of the Fraser River Pilots; Don Nomura, President of Canadian Fishing Company; and John Horton, who each provided remarks on the importance of the Lifeboat and the need to get it back into service on the Fraser River. Many sponsors provided support for the event, including Canadian Fishing Company, Vancouver Maritime Museum, Four Winds Brewing Co., BC Shipping News, Save On Food and the Horseshoe Bay Marine Group. Those who didn't get a chance to attend the fundraiser but still wish to support John's efforts in restoring the vessel following the training accident in December, 2104, can visit: www.gofundme.com/lifeboat to donate.
