Captain Dave Woodman, one of Canada's leading experts on the Franklin Expedition, spoke to a full house on March 4 at the BCIT Marine Campus. The presentation - "Searching for Franklin's Expedition" - was hosted by the Nautical Institute BC Branch and provided insights into the importance of Inuit testimony in locating the Erebus. Woodman, author of two books about the ill-fated expedition, described the diagnostic details he used to decipher the folklore of local Inuit communities, leading to the discovery by Parks Canada in 2014 of one of the wrecks of the expedition.
